Tryin' To Get There

David Lee Murphy released a smash single earlier this year entitled "Loco" from his 2004 album release "Tryin' to Get There."  I personally loved this single.  Murphy couldn't have released a better debut single from this album.  The title track "Tryin' to Get There" written by Murphy and Waylon Jennings is one of the top picks on this album.  Murphy is one of the best songwriters out there.  He wrote or co-wrote all 12 singles on this album.  Murphy's current single, "Inspiration" is quite opposite of "Loco" showing the soft vocals through this ballad.  Murphy can switch from a fast paced song like

"Loco" to the touching "Inspiration" with no hesitation.  A true artist can sing both the ballads and up-tempo songs well, and David Lee Murphy can.  There are so many artists out there that can sing their up-tempo songs so well, but you can get bored when they sing ballads.  This is definitely not the case with Murphy.  He nails every ballad just as well as he does with his up-tempo songs like "Dust on the Bottle" and "Loco."  Murphy has an undeniable amount of talent, but he seems to get discredited when it comes to radio airplay although lately I have been hearing him more and more.  No doubt, this is another fantastic album by David Lee Murphy. - Janelle Landauer

Album picks: "Loco," "Tryin' To Get There," "Inspiration," and "Killin' The Pain."
