- George Strait - "Cowboys Like Us"
(Anthony Smith & Bob DiPiero)

I take off time to time
With those crazy friends of mine
Head out on steel horses
With wheels and we ride

We burn up that road to old Mexico
Blend in with the desert
Just we amigos
And we roll

Cowboys like us sure do have fun
Racin' the wind, chasin' the sun
Take the long way around back to square one
Today we're just outlaws out on the run
There'll be no regrets, no worries and such
For cowboys like us

We talk about livin', babies, and women
All that we've lost and all we've been givin'
We sing about true love, lie about things we ain't done
Drink one more cold one, come mornin' get up
And we roll

(Repeat Chorus Twice)

Cowboys like us

- George Strait - "You'll Be There"

Well, hope is an anchor and love is a ship:
Time is the ocean an' life is a trip.
You don't know where you're goin' till you know where you're at,
And if you can't read the stars, well, you better have a map:
A compass and a conscience so you don't get lost at sea,
Around some old lonely island where no one wants to be.

From the beginning of creation, I think our Maker had plan,
For us to leave these shores and sail beyond the sand.
An' let the Good Light guide us through the waves and the wind,
To the beaches in a world where we have never been.
And we'll climb up on the mountain, y'all: we'll let our voices ring,
When those who've never tried it, they'll be the first to sing.

Whoa, my, my:
I'll see you on the other side if I make it.
And it might be a long hard ride but I'm gonna take it.
Sometimes it seems that I don't have a prayer:
I let the weather take me anywhere,
But I know that I wanna go where the streets are gold,
'Cause you'll be there.
Oh, my, my.

Well, you don't bring nothin' with you here and you can't take nothin' back.
I ain't never seen a hearse with a luggage rack.
So I've torn my knees up prayin', scarred my back from fallin' down.
Spent so much time flyin' high, till I'm face first in the ground.
So if you're up there watchin' me, would you talk to God and say:
Tell him I might need a hand to see you both some day.

Oh, my, my:
So I'll see you on the other side if I make it.
And it might be a long hard ride but I wanna take it.
Sometimes it seems that I don't have a prayer:
I let the weather take me anywhere,
But I know that I wanna go where the streets are gold,
'Cause you'll be there. (You'll be there.)
Oh, my, my.
'Cause you'll be there. (You'll be there.)
Oh, my, my.

- George Strait - "I Hate Everything"

He was sittin' there beside me, throwin' doubles down.
When he ordered up his third one, he looked around,
Then he looked at me an' said: "I do believe I'll have one more."
He said: "I hate this bar an' I hate to drink,
"But on second thought, tonight, I think:
"I hate everything."

Then he opened up his billfold and threw a twenty down,
And a faded photograph fell out an' hit the ground.
An' I picked it up. He said: "Thank you, bud." I put it in his hand.
He said: "I probably oughtta throw this one away,
"'Cause she's the reason I feel this way:
"I hate everything.

"Well, I hate my job an' I hate my life,
"An' if it weren't for my two kids, I'd hate my ex-wife.
"I know I should move on an' try to start again,
"But I just can't get over her leavin' me for him."
Then he shook his head an' looked down at his ring:
An' said: "I hate everything."

He said: "That one bedroom apartment where I get my mail,
"Is really not a home; it's more like a jail,
"With a swimming pool and a parking lot view: man its just great.
"I hate Summer, Winter, Fall and Spring.
"Red and yellow, purple, blue and green:
"I hate everything."

"I hate my job an' I hate my life,
"An' if it weren't for my two kids, I'd hate my ex-wife.
"I know I should move on an' try to start again,
"But I just can't get over her leavin' me for him."
An' then he shook his head an' looked down at his ring:
An' said: "I hate everything."

So I pulled out my 'phone an' I called my house,
Said: "Babe, I'm coming home; we're gonna work this out."
I paid for his drinks and I told him: "Thanks:
"Thanks for everything."

- George Strait - "Tell Me Something Bad About Tulsa"
(Hollis DeLaughter)

Love is so beautiful, when everything is fine.
But when it is like hers and mine,
It lives an' dies,
At least ten thousand times.

Tell me somethin' bad about Tulsa:
How those old oil wells smell in the wind.
Tell me somethin' bad about Tulsa,
So I won't have to go back,
Believin' I belong there again.

Eyes as blue as Tulsa skies,
I kept gettin' lost in when I met her.
Hair like Oklahoma sand,
I could run my hands through forever.
But all good things must end:
All rivers have to bend.
I keep runnin' out,
But she keeps pullin' me back in.

Tell me somethin' bad about Tulsa:
How those old oil wells smell in the wind.
Tell me somethin' bad about Tulsa,
So I won't have to go back,
Believin' I belong there again.

Tell me somethin' bad about Tulsa,
So I won't have to go back,
Believin' I belong there again.
