Jimmy Wayne Invites Opry Guest to a Family Style Dinner
Nashville, TN — When Jimmy Wayne played the Opry Tuesday night (July 14), little did the audience suspect that some of them would actually be breaking bread with the singer following the show. Once Wayne hit the stage, the screams from the front row of predominantly female fans erupted, and didn't let up through his three-song performance, which included his current single, "I'll Be That."
Near the end of his set, Wayne said, "Come on and join me for some sweet tea and a baked sweet potato at Santa Fe," referring to a popular restaurant near the Opry House. By the time Wayne arrived at the restaurant, about a dozen fans were waiting in the parking lot and lobby to see if he'd really show up, and within 15 minutes about two dozen total were seated around tables pushed together to accommodate the crowd.
Fans from Georgia, Illinois, Minnesota and other states got to know each other, and share sweet tea with Wayne. At the end of the evening, the artist got his guitar from his car, and invited his fiddle player Jake Clayton to join him in a couple more songs, including his multi week #1 "Do You Believe Me Now," and by special request, "Kerosene Kid," the autobiographical song on Wayne's current CD.
"Getting to meet new people and hang out with them in a casual setting like this is one of the best things about what I do for a living.” Wayne said. "Sure, I could just wave at them from the stage, and pose for a picture. But this really gives me a chance to hear what they think, learn about their lives and enjoy this great opportunity I've been given."
Wayne is currently on tour with Brad Paisley's American Saturday Night Tour. For all tour dates and more information on the artist, please visit jimmywayne.com or his myspace page. And for up to the minute news and just plain funny stuff, sign up to receive Jimmy Wayne's twitter alerts.
