GREATEST HITS VOL 1
Street date: May 2, 2006
Country piano man, Phil Vassar will release his first greatest hits album next month. (May 2006) Greatest Hits Vol 1 is a mix between original hits and hits he wrote, but they were made popular by other artists. Now, with this release you get to hear the original versions from some of Vassar's greats including: "Bye Bye" and "I'm Alright" by JoDee Messina, "My Next Thirty Years" and "For A Little While" by Tim McGraw and also "Little Red Rodeo" by Collin Raye.
In the opening statement on the booklet page it reads: "I always like to hear the songwriters do the song - especially if they lived it and breathed it. That's where the best songs come from." I have mentioned this so many times in the past... The originals usually have the
real emotion and sometimes they are preferred even to the known version. Greatest Hits starts with "Bye Bye." I think Vassar does this one justice... "Bye Bye" is definitely stronger than his version of "I'm Alright." Vassar's original version of "Little Red Rodeo" is the kicker on this Greatest Hits album. "Little Red Rodeo" was done years ago by Collin Raye. Though Raye did it well, Vassar's version is rockin'. It is definitely one of the favorites on this album even up there with his own hits.
Vassar's Greatest Hits includes his own hits: "In A Real Love," "Carlene," "American Child," "Just Another Day In Paradise," "Six-Pack Summer," "I'll Take That As A Yes (The Hot Tub Song) and "That's When I Love You." Vassar's current single, "Last Day of My Life" is also on this album. "Last Day of My Life" is probably one of Vassar's best releases, though the video for the song is a bit odd. Vassar has had a slug of hits and they're all found here on his new album, "Greatest Hits Vol 1." Vassar's music is real and tells a story... and his songs are great. Vassar is one of the best singer/songwriters in country music and this album showcases his talent. - Janelle Landauer
