RICH REDMOND: Having So Much Fun... It Should Be Illegal! – by Janelle Landauer
The name Rich Redmond might not be familiar to everyone, yet, but if you like country music, you're bound to have heard him playing on some of your favorite songs or even out on the road with Jason Aldean. In February 1997, Redmond auditioned for Trisha Yearwood, Deana Carter and Barbara Mandrell - all of whom were impressed with Redmond, but were hesitant to hire him because he was based in Dallas and not Nashville. "That was the catalyst for my move to Nashville in March of 97'," notes Redmond. "I gave my Dallas based band 2 weeks notice, packed up my drums and my little black cat and drove boldly into the night! Redmond's first gig was with the country.... Read full article

KEITH URBAN – 'Defying Gravity' Review – by Sarah Wyland
Keith Urban’s last release of original music: Love, Pain and the Whole Crazy Thing, was in November 2006. That same year Urban checked himself into rehab to deal with alcoholism less than six months after marrying wife Nicole Kidman. Urban spent the next three months in rehab before embarking on a world tour to promote his new music. Fast forward to 2009. Urban is substance free, still married to Kidman and the father to nine month old Sunday Rose. Urban’s life has come full circle since the release of his 2006 record and the peace and love that he has found is evident on his new release, Defying Gravity – an album that perhaps reveals more of who the real Keith Urban is..... DIERKS BENTLEY – 'Feel That Fire' Review – by Sarah Wyland
Dierks Bentley is one of the hardest working men in country music, playing over 300 show for several years straight, not to mention time spent in the studio, writing songs and doing charity work. He has developed his own bluegrass-infused country rock sound that draws fans clad in white tank tops to his shows in droves. Feel That Fire was made with those fans in mind and Bentley has delivered an album that could be a contender for Album of the Year. The album starts off with “Life On The Run,” a song that opens up with the shifting of motorcycle gears. The song itself is about a man living his life on the run, wanted for a crime he didn’t commit. It is the perfect lead song, setting the audience.... Read full review
JOHNNY BULFORD: 2009 Colgate Country Showdown Winner – by Janelle Landauer
Rising country music star, Johnny Bulford has come a long way in a just a few short years. Bulford, 23, has released 3 independent CDs, plus he's opened for some of country music's top artists including Josh Turner, Emerson Drive, Diamond Rio, Tracy Lawrence and Collin Raye. In 2003, Bulford was a finalist in the Colgate Country Showdown, but he came up short of the grand prize. In 2004, he earned first place and won the Florida state title later that year. After state titles, winners have the opportunity to advance to regionals - and after the regionals, it's on to the national finals. In 2008, Bulford did just that and advanced from one stage to the next, eventually landing a spot in the National.. Read full article
CMT Fans Name Brad Paisley and Taylor Swift The Big Winners At The "2009 CMT Music Awards"
NASHVILLE – June 16, 2009 – It was a live and loud evening packed with great performances and memorable moments at tonight’s 2009 CMT MUSIC AWARDS as Brad Paisley and Taylor Swift emerged as the night’s biggest winners with three and two wins, respectively. Paisley took home top honors for MALE VIDEO OF THE YEAR (“Waitin’ On A Woman”), COLLABORATIVE VIDEO OF THE YEAR (“Start A Band” with Keith Urban), and CMT PERFORMANCE OF THE YEAR, along with Alan Jackson, George Strait and Dierks Bentley (for Alan Jackson’s “Country Boy” from CMT GIANTS: ALAN JACKSON). Taylor Swift brought home FEMALE VIDEO OF THE YEAR and the night’s highest honor

for VIDEO OF THE YEAR (“Love Story”). Swift swept both of these categories for the second consecutive year.
For the seventh consecutive year, Rascal Flatts won GROUP VIDEO OF THE YEAR (“Every Day”); while Sugarland captured DUO VIDEO OF THE YEAR (“All I Want To Do”), which marks their third consecutive win in the Duo category. Kid Rock won WIDE OPEN COUNTRY VIDEO OF THE YEAR (“All Summer Long”); Zac Brown Band was this year’s winner of USA WEEKEND BREAKTHROUGH VIDEO OF THE YEAR (“Chicken Fried”); and director Trey Fanjoy won VIDEO DIRECTOR OF THE YEAR for her entire body of work over the last year, which included Taylor Swift’s “Love Story.”
Hosted by actor/comedian Bill Engvall, the 2009 CMT MUSIC AWARDS kicked off with an opening sketch featuring the widely-talked about collaboration between rap artist T-Pain and Taylor Swift, rapping to a new version of Taylor’s hit “Love Story,” called “Thug Story.” “T-Sweezy” rapped such lines as “you don’t wanna fight me in my extra-small white T.” Directed by Peter Zavadil, the T-Pain/Taylor Swift segment is available HERE.
